Couleur Caramel Eye Shadow

When it comes to makeup, I am always on the look out for three things: vegan lipstick, vegan blush and vegan eye shadow. Yesterday was my lucky day when it came to eye shadow because Couleur Caramel, a brand that offers a ton of vegan options, had a -75% sale in a nearby store (for my Belgian readers; it was Essenza). The sale was just too good to pass up on so I grabbed the only two neutral (and vegan) shades left and purchased them along with one of their cardboard palettes. The grand total? About 7 euros.

Couleur Caramel is an EcoCert certified French brand. All of their packaging is recyclable and they are completely cruelty free. This is what the eye shadows look like once they are taken out of their packaging.

The two eye shadows that I’ve purchased are called Coppered Beige and Black. They both come in cardboard sachets. Pretty as these sachets are, they aren’t very sturdy and just won’t do if you want to use these shadows regularly. I would therefore highly recommend that you purchase a palette along with them.

I was pretty amazed by the quality of these eye shadows. They are soft, very pigmented and transfer well to the eye lids. Coppered Beige is very buttery and the texture reminds me a lot of Urban Decay eye shadows. Black on the other hand is a bit powdery but the pigmentation is just amazing. Both blend easily and stay put.

The pictures below show the simple look that I’ve made with the eye shadows. I applied Coppered Beige to my eyelid and blended it up to my crease. Then I used Black to create a soft winged liner. The eye shadows are so pigmented that I didn’t have build them up at all.

The palette that I bought along with the eye shadows consists of sturdy cardboard and closes with the help of a magnet. It looks like a little book and contains a mirror. The palette that I bought is actually meant for their bigger face powders. I might have to go back to the store and purchase a palette that is actually meant for their eye shadows, because in this palette they move around too much. I wish that I would have payed more attention the this in the store.

All in all I have some mixed feelings about these eye shadows. The quality of both is great. No complaints there, but they are on the pricey side if you buy them full priced (each eye shadow costs around 12,00 EUR), and you also need to buy a separate palette. For girls on a budget, I would recommend looking into E.L.F, GOSH or Barry M. For girls who used to be into M.A.C eye shadows (before they started testing on animals), this might be a good option for you. Couleur Caramel has a huge range and from what I’ve seen the quality is great.

The products featured in this post are vegan and cruelty free. Do note that not all Couleur Caramel eye shadows are vegan! You can buy the eye shadows here, here and here for around 12,00 EUR.
