First impressions: The Superfun Times Vegan Holiday Cookbook

I’ve been a fan of Isa Chandra Moskowitz for years. Isa Does It is my favorite cookbook, but I basically like everything she touches. Needles to say I had been looking forward to her new cookbook for months and months. The Superfun Times Vegan Holiday Cookbook offers, as the title suggest, a bunch of recipes to make for different holidays, ranging from appetizers to deserts.

When I first held the book in my hands, I noticed how thick it is. 439 pages with only a few dedicated to introduction etc. There are so many recipes in here that only about a half to a third of the recipes have pictures. If all recipes were to have a picture, the book would be so big that it wouldn’t be practical/affordable any more.

Having only flipped through the book once, I feel a little overwhelmed. The recipes are not divided into the usual breakfast-lunch-dinner-desert categories, so it is a little hard to find an overview. I think that this will improve once I get to know the book better.

The Superfun Times Vegan Holiday Cookbook features holidays from different parts of the world. This means that the recipes are extremely diverse and worldly. There is definitely enough variety here to keep me going for a few years. My goal is to make 50 recipes from this cookbook. I have the same goal with Isa Does It and just made number 39 (I have repeated most recipes, so I have had a lot of meals from it). I cannot wait to start cooking from this beauty!
