Read Before You Buy (my favorite resources)

The beauty industry is big business, we constantly get bombarded with billboards and campaigns. Every brand claims to have that one product with cutting edge technology that will transform your face from dull and uneven to bright, flawless, wrinkle free and baby soft. Since there are so many brands and products out there, consumers are left with one important question: What should I buy?

Luckily for us, there are some amazing resources on the internet. Here are the ones I use the most…

1 Beautypedia reviews

This is my absolute favorite beauty resource. It is an initiative by Paula Begoun (also known as ‘The Cosmetics Cop’). She is the author of The Original Beauty Bible, Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me, Blue Eyeshadow Should Be Illegal and Don’t Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me. A lady with a mind-blowing knowledge. Beautypedia offers a huge amount of reliable, scientifically validated product reviews written by experts.

Paula Begoun also offers an ingredients dictionary: Click!

2 Makeupalley

MUA is a site where people like you and I come to rate or review products. It is very popular, so it has a huge amount of product reviews. If you are looking for an overview of consumer’s opinions, MUA is the right place for you.

Other great resources are beauty blogs. And let me tell you, there are some amazing ones out there. They offer an elaborated opinion that is often accompanied with beautiful and clear pictures. They also include swatches or demonstrate how the product works. The downside to a beauty blog is that you only get one opinion. Therefore, I find it interesting to check MUA and Paula’s Choice as well.

There you have it, my most used beauty resources in a nutshell. Isn’t the internet a wonderful thing?
