Review: Barry M Loud Mouth

So, I’ve been to London twice now, and both times I’ve picked up a ton of vegan beauty products. I am pretty jealous of the British for having Superdrug, Sleek, Too Faced, Barry M, Pacifica, Soap and Glory and many more brands with vegan options within their reach. I wish Belgium had some more exciting options like that. Anyway, the last time I went to London I picked up two of the Barry M Loud Mouth Extreme Lip Colours. A neutral and a deep berry. Here are my thoughts…

The Loud Mouths are somewhere between a lipstick and a lip gloss. At first glance, these look like they could be dupes of the OCC Lip Tars. I have never tried a Lip Tar before, so I can’t really compare them, but I do think that these are more on the lip gloss side of the spectrum than the Lip Tars. They are really pigmented though and they stay on for a decent amount of time. The darker color called Diva stains my lips a little which I like.

The consistency of the Loud Mouths is pretty thick and creamy. Kind of like a melted lip cream. The applicator of the tube that these lip colors come in is pretty bad. It is a regular plastic-with-a-hole-in-it applicator that you find with clear lip glosses. The problem is that these bad boys are way too pigmented to apply straight from the tube. I recommend applying them with a separate lip brush.

The color Tell-Tale is a light pink nude. When I swatched it in the store I thought it would be way more flattering than it actually is. I just can’t help but feel a Snooki vibe with it. The darker pink color called Diva is more up my alley. It is a flattering deep berry pink that wears well on its own or layered on top of a similarly colored lipstick. The only problem I have with it (except for the faulty applicator that is) is that it has a tendency to bleed. You can even see this a little bit on the swatch above.

My favorite way of wearing these two is by mixing them together. This tones down Diva and darkens Tell-Tale, removing the Snooky element. Together they create a pretty pink-y mauve that I love. I find it very easy to wear. The mixed in color doesn’t have a tendency to bleed either. I call this creation: Diva tells the tale right.

Et voila there you have it again, my opinion. In summation I would say that the product is nicely pigmented, has a pleasant consistency and stays on for a pretty good amount of time. The applicator of the tube is really bad though, so you need to apply them with a brush. I would recommend these, especially if you want to invest in a few of them and have a play with mixing them together. If that is the case, go for it!

The products featured in this post are vegan and cruelty free.
